Have any of you heard of a band called Xalam? I saw them play live some years ago at the Womad festival in Reading UK. I have a CD of theirs but would like to have more. They seem to have disappeared, or I'm not looking in the right places. I heard a rumour that one of the members had died and they split up afterwards, but I don't know if it's fact or just hearsay. Any info would be gratefully received.

my partner is from senegal and is a big fan of them and know some of the musicians, heres what he has to say.....
the drummer died and they did split up. the singer souleman faye lives in germany. some of the others are back in senegal.
they have a few cd's and recently i saw a website for them....www.xalam2dakar.com/
