Hey FRIENDS --
I am a DJ/musician -- I am knowledgeable in some forms of African music, but always ready to absorb more information.
I have very little knowledge of Electronic Music ("House Music" in particular) made by Africans. I would love if y'all could turn me onto some labels/artists/songs/etc. so I can make my library of music THAT MUCH deeper.

Fri, August 25, 2006 - 12:18 AMFrom South Africa, there is kwaito. See Red J's previous post and the link to the discussion thread in the South African tribe. You may already be familiar with groups like Mafikizolo which were introduced to the US a few years back by the MAW crew.
From Ivory Coast, there is zouglou. One of the biggest names is the group Magic System.

I heard Frederic Galliano (of Fyrikiwa and African Divas fame) is currently working with many of the big names of the genre, with an international album to be released this autumn.
